Interesting facts about me

I started growing my beard at the beginning of August 2008. I had never grown a beard before and at 35 was curious to see the results. (I also wanted to see what I would look like bearded before I go grey.) I had a few weeks of time before starting some course work at the university to give my beard a start. When I started my courses in September I debated whether I should shave the beard, but by then I liked it too much to do that. So I carried on and found more information about beard maintenance online both at the "All about Beards" site and this beard board. I was nervous both about how my beard would be received and, like most men, was my worst critic. However, when I reached the one month mark my dad told me it made me look distinguished, and a found almost all of the comments I received were positive. I continued to grow the beard until about 9 weeks when I did a trim. Since then I have let it grow a bit longer and fuller and the mustache has densified.

In my spare time, I enjoy working on computers: building them, maintaining them and doing different tasks on them. I enjoy sci-fi programs and country music. I also have a BA degree with a major in English and minor in history.

Thank you Nightman. I'm looking forward to seeing your 6 month beard. Going by the excellent 3 month beard you had, I'm sure your 6 month beard is going to surprise you with its fullness.

    Thank you sir--

I actually started growing a beard couple years ago when I was going through a tough time----and the beard kinda stayed with me....I dunno. I don't feel like "me" without a beard.....the beard I believe does do something to a man whether good or bad.

I actually have kept it at a very short length but I'm thinking about growing back to a full beard---usually when fall and winter season comes about I tend to do so--

    You're welcome OneWayrawk.

This is my first beard and I have had it for just over a year now. I understand your sentiment. I feel like "me" with my beard too. It's funny how a beard can have such a profound effect on its wearer.
